The Kidderminster Golf Club

The Stewart Smith Challenge Cup 2019

The Stewart Smith Challenge Cup is one of KGC's oldest trophies, originally presented to the old Kidderminster Golf Club by Mr W H Stewart Smith in 1909. Originally a scratch medal event and later a handicap bogey, in 1954 the format became foursomes bogey and remained so for the next sixty years. In 2014 the competition returned to its original format in recognition of changing tastes in competitive club golf.

The 2019 event resulted in a 3 way tie on 72 between Jake Kelly (Ombersley), Mark Dixon (Moseley) and KGC's own Matt Ruffinato on 72. A sudden death play off then took place at which Jake chipped in at the first extra hole for an eagle to take the cup.

Many congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone who made this event such a resounding success. KGC looks forward to welcoming you back next year.
